Julia (and anyone else who is struggling, perhaps this might help) ENTERING YOUR TREE The first person added is yourself from your registration details. On the Relations Details page (to get here if not direct from registration, go to Your Tree and then click on the box with yourself in it) you are in the centre with boxes above for your father and mother and boxes below for your partner and children. At the very bottom are buttons to got to Your Tree (the tree diagram with pink and blue boxes) and to Delete Relation (this deletes the relation currently in focus ie. the one in the middle). If you have entered details for any of your direct relations, ie. father, mother, partner or children their names will also appear in the boxes around your name box. To add a relation, click on the appropriate box. The screen changes and the focus (central box person) becomes that relation. By clicking on the centre box you can add or amend information for that person - new screen Edit Relation appears where you enter the info. Click on Save Changes to enter. When entering info, by far the easiest way is from a Gedcom file which you should be able to export to if you have any genealogy software on your PC which already has family data. NB You must ensure that Submitter Info is empty and that your details exactly match those on GenesConnected ie Name, DOB, place of birth - easiest way is to copy and paste from one to the other to ensure same spacing punctuation etc. If you are new to this and can't upload a Gedcom, just work your way through your family methodically, parents, grandparents, etc. making sure that each time you enter someone new that you click on the correct box for their relationship to the focus person ie. the one in the centre box. For instance, if you want to enter your paternal grandfather, get to the Relations Details page with you in the middle, then click on your father and when he is in the middle, click on father again and then enter your grandfathers details. If you need to delete someone, they must be in the centre box and they cannot be connected to several other relations. If you have made a real mess of your tree, it may well be quicker to use the universal Delete Tree from the main menu and start again. I hope that clarifies things for a few people who are struggling.
