Hi, can anyone help. I am trying to find the birth place of Charles Goody who married Alice Goody in 1894. It appears that Charles was in the war approx 1901. Charles Goody was a very popular name suprisingly and I am stuck!

The last bit of information may be a bit misleading.Harriet Goody was not Charles mother His real mother was Hannah Goody Nee Fisher. Hannah was married to William and they had Charles. However they seperated and Haanah left Colchester for Preston with my Ggrandfather Thomas Cronnall. Their maariage was bigamous so I guess the marriage between William and Harriet was also.

He was my grandfather's brother, born to William Goody and Hannah ( nee Fisher)

Family consisted of 8 children :-
William ( my grandfather) - actually born as Fisher

As Ruth says, mother Hannah then left Colchester for Preston taking some of the children and leaving others with husband William, including Charles and Isaac.


She "married " Thomas Cronnel in Preston registry office in 1880 as a spinster under her maiden name of Fisher ... and had 5 more children in Preston :
* Kate Goody
Mary Alice, - born before parents married but registered as Cronnell
Hannah,
Thomas
and James Edward

* Annie and Kate at the age of 6 and 4 were re- christened in 1881 with the name Cronnell but their birth certificates years earlier are in the name of Goody... Annie in Colchester, Kate in Preston
