Hi all,

Trying to find any details on the family of Peter Dinner c1826, father Thomas miner, mother Alice, residence Boyton. I have checked the online cornwall opc, unable to find a marriage of Thomas & Alice.

Peter immigrated to Australia onboard the Wellesley, arriving in Australia September 1860.

I have all his details in Australia.

Thanks

Christina

Just noticed the Alice remarried James Honey Truro, 26 June 1838, can you tell me who is with them on the 1841 and 1851 Census.

I found found a death of Thomas 1826 aged 45 years, not sure if the right Thomas.

Thanks

Julcoe

Could Peter have been married before he left England ??

The only Peter Dinner that I can find on the 1851 census is married to a "Charlotte".

Charlotte is not with her spouse on any other census but is listed as married on the 1861 & 1871 census and a widow on the 1881 census.

However I can not find a marriage between a peter Dinner and a Charlotte, nor a marriage for a Charlotte to any 'Dinner' male ???

I have still not found a marriage for Peter and Charlotte!

but it does look suspiciously as though it is your Peter who married Charlotte, and then left her behind when going to Australia

Thanks to everyone who has replied during the last 12 hours, sorry I haven't been back to thread been out all day.

Peter married in 1864 and died in 1895 (both Aust). If it is indeed is marriage to Charlotte, he is still alive in 1881!!

MeJoy75

MeJoy75 Report 3 Dec 2010 08:11

Sylvia and Julcoe,

Just read all thread replies, looks like Charlotte got a bit confused when filling out the 1881 and 1891 Census - 1881 she is a widower, 1891 she is married.

I think I will get his marriage certificate to see if it says anything about another marriage & family.

Obviously this happened quite a lot, his wife's 1st husband, brother & father immigrated, whilst his mother & sisters remained in England!!

Mel

I posted that death of a Peter Dinner in Launceston in 1856 as a warning that it looks as though there were TWO Peter Dinners living in the same area at approximately the same time

.................. and so which one was Charlotte married to?

Sylvia,

I haven't been able to find a marriage, but, if there was a marriage I would probably go with my Peter, only because on the Census Charlotte has listed herself as being married.
