His family lived in Pulborough/ West Chiltington for generations & never any mention of London.

Do you know what/where Dinapore Cantonment is out of interest?

He was in Pulborough age 3 in 1891 & Pulborough age 13 in 1901

Charles' mother Sussanah died in 1894
His father was Edward Willmer Braby, the illegitamate child of Edward Willmer & Sarah Braby.
I found a death of Edward Braby in 1888

Maybe Charles was an orphan by the time he was 6 years old & Chatfields took him & his brothers in?

I couldn't find a marriage of Susannah Willmer after her husband's death.

Yes that's him and he appears as Charles Chatfield in 1911 but got married in 1915 as Charles Willmer!!
